Songs that Encourage & Bolster Hope

Dear friends,

Here’s your list of favorite go-to songs (with links) for days when life plays rough.

In cases where only title and performer were mentioned, I searched out my favorite versions. Most of these songs are freely available in multiple versions on youtube. I included my recently posted Kyrie Eleisons as a grouping, at the bottom of this list. I’ve listed the titles and artist(s). I regret the mp3 of Gena Bradford singing “Be Magnified” (found only on our final CD, All My Days) exceeds this site’s file size limits. I’ve posted an alternate version.

Thanks to all who shared cherished songs!

“Artist of My Soul,” Sandi Patti

“Be Magnified,” Gena Bradford (no link available with Gena; here’s Kim Hill’s version)

“Bless the Broken Road,” Selah

“Break Through,” Tommy Walker

“Even Unto Death,” Audrey Assad

“Even Unto Death,” written in response to the martyrdom of Coptic Christians in Egypt, 2015. Here is a link to the song with her explanation interspersed.

“How Great Thou Art,” *Sam Robson, sterling a cappella (1 man, 9 parts)

“How Great Thou Art, Susan Boyle/chorus only with stunning scenery plus psalm reading

“In Christ Alone,” TheNCrew

“In Heaven’s Eyes,” Sandi Patti

“Sing Alleluia,” Fernando Ortega

“The Potter’s Hand,” Hillsong

“The Potter’s Hand”

“Total Praise,” Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir

Trust in You, Lauren Daigle

Kyrie eleison:

Cupped in our hands, held in our minds and our hearts,
here, and now, Merciful God who encompasses all,
here is what we can barely hold:

Eric Lagerstrom: stunning music, photos (some of them wrenching)

Gospel choir, outstanding soloist, easy to sing along

Static snow scene, acoustic folk, Isaac Wardell

Korean Children’s Choir, World Vision, haunting a cappella

Choral version, underscores compelling abstract paintings by Natalia Rudzina

Taizé, international gathering of believers

Introspective, Chris Tomlin

Exciting, Mr. Mister, ’80s soft rock plus onstage/offstage video
